The 6th annual Fishtown RiverCity Festival will kick off with a 5k FUN RUN through the Fishtown neighborhood on a semi-closed course, beginning and ending at Penn Treaty Park. As always this fun run will raise funds to support The Fishtown Neighbors Association.
This year, the RiverCity Festival is proud to sponsor local non-profit Philly Achilles. The Achilles Track Club was founded in 1983 by Dick Traum, the first amputee to run a marathon distance. Now an international organization, their mission is to enable people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream athletics in order to promote personal achievement, enhance self esteem and lower barriers to living a fulfilling life. Stop by Achilles’ Tent at the festival after the 5k to meet some members, learn more about how you can participate and catch a run with them around town on Saturday mornings.
This year as an added bonus, we will also partner with the Fishtown Beer Runners. FBR is no stranger to running and enjoying a brew post-5k (or longer). Their goal is to combine responsible running and consumption in the interest of science. Fishtown Beer Runners will mark the course to encourage and provide direction for all runners. Look for FBR members to dole out high-fives as you run, too!
The first 100 registrants will receive a free tech shirt! Yep, that’s right, folks, we read your feedback! So, for the first time since its inception, a RiverCity 5k Fun Run ticket purchase will get you a sweet Tech T! Be sure to register early so you won't miss out.
Race day tech T-shirt pick up for the first 100 registrants will begin at 11:00 A.M. The run will start at 12 noon!
21+ registration includes a bottomless cup at the RiverCity Hospitality Tent, featuring your favorite Philadelphia Brewing Company beverages!
Online Registration will close at Midnight October 4, 2013. Race day registration, if space is available, will start at 11:00 A.M. on October 5, 2013. Cost of race day registration 21+ (includes bottomless refreshment cup), $30, 21 & under and run only, $20
The 5k will be capped at 200 runners.
